- Very important provisions are included in the Commission Regulation No. 1159/2000 on Information and Publicity measures. The (EC) 1159/2000 describes the measures that have to be adopted when carrying out ERDF-funded projects.
- The Practical Guide to Communication on the Structural Funds 2000-2006 explains in detail the various issues addressed in the Regulation 1159/2000.
Why actions for publicity?
Project publicity measures are vital to reach an audience and to raise awareness for topics covered by the project and to communicate the objectives and the results achieved.
- Publicity activities allow to draw the attention of a large variety of stakeholders which are interesting for the project
and get their support. - It is also important to inform citizens about how their money is spent.
- Awareness of the actions carried out by the EU in cooperation with the Member States through the Structural Funds like Interreg III B CADSES.
- The project partners are promoters of the EU and of the programme and can provide the tangible proof that structural policy works and produces results to reduce the economic and social disparities in Europe.
Tips for effective communication
Keep your communication simple and clear - otherwise your message may not reach your target group.
- Adapt the content to the target groups which you have chosen; try to place yourself in the position of the recipient of the message.
- Use a mix of the different means of communication.
- Update regularly the project's content in order to spread the results achieved and the good practices.
- It is important to have a communication strategy in order to plan your actions more effectively : What do you want to say? Who do you want to say it to?
